This is the full reference for the Recommended for you page in Tacey. Every default below is what a new store starts with, so if you only set the one required field, this is how the tool behaves.
How to open the page
In Tacey, open Editing Tools.
On the Thank you page card, click Set up tools.
Click Set up next to Recommended for you.
Change what you need, then click Save.
Where recommendations come from
Setting | Default | What it does |
Recommendation source | My rules | My rules uses your rules and default recommendation. Shopify recommends lets Shopify suggest products based on what the customer bought. |
Kind of Shopify recommendation | Related products | Only used with Shopify recommends. Related products works with no setup. Complementary products uses the pairings you set in Shopify's Search & Discovery app. |
What to recommend
Setting | Default | What it does |
Default recommendation type | A specific product | Whether your fallback is one product or a collection. |
If no rule matches, show this | Not set, required | What the customer sees when no rule applies, or when Shopify has no recommendation. Until you pick one, the tool stays on Needs setup and customers see nothing. |
When to recommend something else
These rules override the default for a particular order. They are checked in this order, and the first one that matches wins.
Setting | Default | What it does |
Order-total rules | None | When the order total is between two amounts, recommend products priced between two amounts. Leave a box empty for no limit. |
Product rules | None | When the order contains a product, recommend specific products. |
Collection rules | None | When the order contains a product, recommend products from a collection. |
Rules are ignored while the source is Shopify recommends.
How it looks

Offer a discount
Setting | Default | What it does |
Discount recommended items | Off | Takes an amount off each recommended item a customer adds. Nothing is discounted unless this is on. |
Discount type | Percentage off | Percentage off or Fixed amount off, per item. |
Discount amount | Empty | Digits only. A percentage must be above 0 and below 100. A fixed amount must be less than the item's price. |
Shipping
Setting | Default | What it does |
Shipping on recommended items | Absorb the cost (free to the customer) | Absorb adds no extra shipping. Charge a flat amount adds the amount below each time a recommended item is added. |
Shipping charge amount | Empty | The flat amount. Required when shipping is set to Charge. |
Warnings you may see on this page
Tacey tells you when a setting is on but cannot do anything. For example:
"Charge is selected but there is no valid amount, so no shipping is charged."
"The discount is on but has no amount, so no discount is given."
"Order-total rule 2 will never apply: rule 1 above it already covers every order total it covers."
"You have no rules yet, so every customer is recommended your default product."
Fix the setting it names and the warning goes away after you save.
What this does NOT do
It has no setting to recommend products outside a customer's market. A product not published to the order's market is never shown, whatever you pick.
