How do I place a test order to see Tacey working on my Shopify store?

Check your setup end to end: place an order, see Tacey on the Thank you and Order status pages, and find the address check result.

The only way to be sure Tacey is set up is to see it on a real order. A test order takes a few minutes and checks everything at once: the address check, Tacey's block on the Thank you page, and the Order status page.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  1. Picked a plan (the 14-day free trial counts).

  2. Turned on Let customers edit their own order in Editing Tools > Global settings.

  3. Switched on at least one tool in Editing Tools, for example Edit delivery address.

  4. Added Tacey to your Thank you and Order status pages in Shopify's checkout and accounts editor. See How do I add Tacey to my Shopify Thank you and Order status pages?.

Step 1: Place the order

  1. Open your online store in a private browser window.

  2. Add a product to the cart and go to checkout.

  3. Enter a shipping address you control. To see an address suggestion, try a small mistake, such as the wrong postal code for the city.

  4. Pay using Shopify's test payment options if your store has them turned on, or place a small real order you cancel and refund afterwards in Shopify.

Step 2: Look at the Thank you page

Right after checkout you land on the Thank you page. You should see Tacey's block, Make changes to your order, with a countdown showing how long is left to edit and a row for each tool you switched on.

If you entered a mistake, the Edit delivery address row may show Suggested fix available or Address check needed. The check runs in the background right after the order is placed, so this can take a few seconds to appear.

Step 3: Open the Order status page

  1. In your Shopify admin, open the new order.

  2. Choose More actions > View order status page.

Tacey's block should appear there too, with the same tools.

Step 4: Check the result in Tacey

  1. Open Orders in Tacey. Your test order should be at the top, with its result in the Address check column.

  2. Open your Tacey dashboard. Under Add Tacey to your checkout and order status page, the setup checklist should now say Confirmed, with the page where a customer, in this case you, saw it.

Step 5: Try a change

On the Order status page, open Edit delivery address, change something, and save. Then open the order in your Shopify admin to see the new address, and open it in Tacey to see the change recorded.

If something is missing

What this does NOT do

  • A test order is a real order to Tacey. It counts once toward your plan's monthly number, like any other order.

  • Tacey does not cancel or refund the test order for you. Do that in Shopify when you are done.
