How does Tacey count my orders each month?

Which orders count toward your Tacey plan, which do not, and when your monthly count resets.

Written by Joseph Odera

Each Tacey plan covers a number of orders per month, from 750 on Starter to 20,000 on High Volume. Here is exactly what counts toward that number, what does not, and when the count starts again.

What counts

Each new order with a shipping address counts once, at the moment Shopify tells Tacey the order was created.

  • It counts once, no matter how many times a customer later changes it with Tacey's tools.

  • It counts once even if Shopify sends Tacey the same order notification twice.

  • Orders during your 14-day free trial count too.

What does not count

  • A customer editing their order. Changing the address, the contact details or the items is not a new order.

  • A re-check of an address. When a customer or your team changes the shipping address, Tacey checks the new address again. That re-check does not count as another order.

  • An order with no shipping address, such as a digital-only order. Tacey has no address to check, so it does not use one of your orders.

Your monthly count runs in 30-day periods

Tacey does not reset your count on the 1st of the month. Your count runs in 30-day periods that start on your billing date, down to the time of day your plan started.

For example, if your plan started on 14 March at 10:20, your periods run:

  • 14 March 10:20 to 13 April 10:20

  • 13 April 10:20 to 13 May 10:20

  • and so on, every 30 days

Your Tacey dashboard explains it the same way: "Your allowance runs in 30-day periods that start on your billing date, not on the 1st of the month."

Annual plans still reset every 30 days

If you pay annually, your bill covers a full year, but your order allowance still resets every 30 days. An annual Starter plan gives you 750 orders every 30 days, not 750 for the whole year.

Where to see your count

Open Billing in Tacey. Under Orders used you see:

  • how many orders you have used, shown as "{used} of {cap} orders"

  • how many are remaining

  • a status: On track, Near limit (80% or more used) or At limit

  • "This count resets on {date}", the exact end of your current period

What this does NOT do

  • Unused orders do not carry over. Each 30-day period starts again at zero.

  • Tacey does not charge per order. Going over your number pauses address checks until the next period or until you upgrade. It never adds a charge.

  • The count is not tied to calendar months, even though plans are described as "orders a month".

Frequently asked

Why did my count reset on the 17th and not the 1st?

Because your periods start from your own billing date. Each period is exactly 30 days from the one before.

If a customer edits their order three times, is that three orders?

No. The order counts once, when it is placed. Edits never add to your count.

What happens when I reach my number?

New orders stop getting an address check until your count resets or you upgrade. Everything else keeps working. See What happens when I reach my Tacey order limit?.
