Your customers see Tacey in their own language, automatically. Tacey's block on the Thank you and Order status pages speaks 21 languages, and follows the language your customer is using on your store's checkout and order pages. You do not need to set anything up.
The 21 languages
English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Simplified Chinese.
How the language is chosen
Shopify tells Tacey which language the customer is viewing the Thank you or Order status page in. Tacey shows its block in that language:
the block heading, Make changes to your order, and each tool's row
the countdown showing how long is left to edit
address check messages and suggestions
messages that explain why a change cannot be made, such as when the edit window has closed
If the customer's language is not one of the 21, Tacey shows its block in English.
Your own wording and other languages
In Editing Tools, you can change the English wording of a tool's row, such as its Row label and Button word. Tacey is clear about how that works:
> Your wording replaces English only > If you set your own text here, English-speaking customers see exactly this. Customers in every other language still see our translated default. Leave it blank and every language uses our translation.
So if you rename "Edit delivery address" to "Fix my address", English-speaking customers see "Fix my address", and a German-speaking customer still sees Tacey's German wording.
Your admin language is separate
The language you see inside Tacey in your Shopify admin is a separate setting, and it does not change what customers see. See How do I change what language Tacey shows in my Shopify admin?.
What this does NOT do
It does not translate your products, your store or Shopify's own pages. Your store's languages in Shopify decide those.
It does not translate your custom wording. Text you type in Tacey is shown to English-speaking customers only.
It does not let the customer pick a different language inside Tacey's block. It follows the language of the page they are on.
Frequently asked
A customer saw Tacey in English, but they speak Greek. Why?
Greek is not one of Tacey's 21 languages, so Tacey shows English. If the customer's language is on the list and they still saw English, check which language their order page was shown in.
Do I need a separate setup for each language?
No. All 21 languages work automatically on both pages.
