It means Tacey's address check had a concern about the delivery address, showed it to the customer, and the customer chose to keep their own address anyway. The tag is your cue to glance at the address before the parcel ships.
How an order gets the tag
When a customer opens Edit delivery address, Tacey may show them a suggested correction, or tell them it could not confirm part of their address. The customer then chooses. If they pick Keep my address (or Keep it as it is), Tacey:
Leaves the address on the order exactly as it is. Nothing is changed.
Adds the tag `tacey-check-address` to the order.
Records the decision on the order's history in Tacey as Customer kept their address after a warning.
The customer sees "We'll keep your address as it is" and carries on.
Why it is worth a look
The customer is often right. New-build streets, rural addresses and buildings the postal records do not know yet are the usual reasons a real address cannot be confirmed. But sometimes the suggestion was right and the customer simply dismissed it. A 20-second check before packing is cheaper than a returned parcel.
What to do when you see it
Open the order and read the delivery address.
Open the order in Tacey to see what the address check flagged. The history on the order shows the decision and when it was made.
If the address looks fine, fulfil as normal. You can remove the tag in Shopify admin if you like, but you do not have to.
If something looks wrong, contact the customer before shipping.
Tip: In Shopify admin, filter your orders list by the tag `tacey-check-address` to see every order waiting for this check in one place. You can also use the tag as a trigger in Shopify Flow, for example to hold the order or notify your team.
It does not use up one of the customer's changes
Keeping an address changes nothing on the order, so it does not count toward your Maximum edits per order limit. A customer who confirms their own address can still fix something else afterwards.
When the tag is not added
If the address check had no concern at all, there is nothing to keep, so no tag. If a request to keep an address arrives with no warning behind it, no tag is added and the customer is told: "There was no address warning to keep the address against, so nothing was recorded." Your order history in Tacey shows it as a change not made, with the reason "The customer asked to keep their address, but there was no address warning to keep it against."
If the customer accepts the suggested address, the address is changed instead, and that change is recorded as Shipping address changed.
What this does NOT do
It does not hold the order. The tag is a flag for your attention, not a fulfillment hold.
It does not remove itself. The tag stays until you or another app removes it.
It does not mean the address is wrong. It means the check could not agree with the customer, and the customer chose their own version.
Frequently asked
Can I stop customers keeping an address the check could not confirm?
Yes. Turn on Block addresses we can't confirm in the Edit delivery address settings. The customer then has to pick the suggestion or correct the address before it saves. It can stop real customers on new or rural streets, which is why it is off by default.
