Setting up Tacey takes a few minutes. Address checks start on your next order as soon as you pick a plan. A few more steps let your customers fix their own orders on Shopify's Thank you and Order status pages.
Step 1: Pick a plan
When you first open Tacey, it shows two short screens.
Your customers can fix their own orders: a quick overview of what Tacey does. Click Next.
Choose a plan: answer "Roughly how many orders do you get a month?" and Tacey suggests the plan that fits. Click Start 14-day free trial, then confirm on Shopify's own pricing page.
Shopify brings you back to your Tacey dashboard. From this point, every new order's shipping address is checked automatically.
Step 2: Finish the setup checklist
Your dashboard shows Finish setting up Tacey, with a few steps. Work through them in order.
Turn on customer self-service editing
The first step is Turn on customer self-service editing. Click Turn on and continue.
With this on, as Tacey explains, "a customer who gets a flagged or incorrect address can fix it themselves from their order-status page, right up until their order ships. You can turn it off again any time from Settings."
This is the Let customers edit their own order switch in Editing Tools > Global settings. It is off until you turn it on.
Add Tacey to your checkout and order status page
The step Add Tacey to your checkout and order status page is the one most often missed. Without it, your customers see nothing, however you set up Tacey.
Click Open the checkout editor and add Tacey's blocks to your Thank you and Order status pages. See How do I add Tacey to my Shopify Thank you and Order status pages? for the exact steps.
Tacey marks this step confirmed the first time a customer views an order with Tacey on it, for example "Confirmed: a customer viewed this on your Thank you page".
Set your edit window duration
Choose how long customers have to make changes after checkout. Click Go to Settings. See How long can customers edit their order after checkout?.
Validation regions
"Every country is checked by default." If you only want some countries checked, click Go to Settings. See How do I choose which countries Tacey checks addresses for?.
Step 3: Choose your tools
Open Editing Tools. Switch on the tools you want customers to have, such as Edit delivery address, and review each tool's settings. Every plan includes every tool.
Step 4: Place a test order
The only real proof is seeing Tacey on a real order. See How do I place a test order to see Tacey working?.
What this does NOT do
Installing Tacey does not put it on your pages. You must add the blocks in Shopify's editor (step 2).
Tacey never touches your checkout. Everything happens after the order is placed.
Nothing is charged during the 14-day free trial. Orders during the trial still count toward your plan's monthly number.
Frequently asked
Can I skip the checklist?
Yes. You can hide it with Hide steps or Dismiss, and every setting is still available in Editing Tools. But skipping the placement step means customers see nothing.
Do address checks need the checklist?
No. Address checks start with your next order once you have a plan. The checklist is about what your customers see.
