Tacey checks shipping addresses in every country by default. How precise the check can be depends on the postal records available for that country, so Tacey sorts countries into three levels: Full, Verified and Located.
You can see each country's level in Tacey: open Editing Tools > Global settings, go to Which countries to check, and open the country list. Each country shows its level next to its name.
The three levels
Level | What it means for you |
Full | The deepest check Tacey offers. For US addresses, Tacey's settings describe it as "Every USPS delivery-point flag, ZIP+4", which means it can tell, for example, when an apartment or unit number is missing. |
Verified | Tacey checks the address against the country's address records, can confirm the street and building, and can suggest corrections. |
Located | In Tacey's words: "Resolves to a location; not a delivery guarantee." Tacey can find the place and often correct the town, region or postal code, but cannot always confirm the exact street or building. |
Which countries are at which level
Full: United States, Canada and Mexico.
Verified: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Located: every other country.
The level shown next to each country in your settings is always the current one, so check there if you are unsure.
What your customer sees in a Located country
When the check can find the area but not confirm the street, your customer sees a calm message rather than a warning, such as: "We found the area, but couldn't confirm the street. Please check your street and building number. If they are correct, keep them as they are."
If Tacey found a real correction, for example the wrong region typed for a well-known street, it still offers the suggested address.
What this does NOT do
It does not refuse any country. Every country gets a check unless you switch it off.
A Located result is not a failure. Many correct addresses can only be confirmed to the area. Parcels to those addresses generally still arrive.
It does not change which countries you ship to. Your shipping settings in Shopify decide that.
Frequently asked
Why do some of my correct addresses show "Needs attention"?
In Located countries, and sometimes elsewhere, the check can only confirm the area. Tacey marks that as needing a look rather than as confirmed, because it could not confirm the exact street. If the customer is sure, the address is fine.
Can I stop Tacey checking a country?
Yes. See How do I choose which countries Tacey checks?. Orders to that country still go through; they just are not checked.
Does the level affect my price?
No. Every plan covers every country, at the same price.
