Tacey sends two kinds of email: messages your customers see (like a notice that their order's email address changed), and internal notices for you, about something a customer just did. This page controls both, in one place: Settings → Global settings → Email.
Sender name
The name your customers see this email is from. Leave it blank and Tacey uses your Shopify store name. If you type something that doesn't look like your store — for example, it looks like it's impersonating a bank, a carrier, or another well-known platform — Tacey won't use it. Instead it falls back to your Shopify store name and shows a warning banner on this page explaining why, so you're never guessing whether your custom name is actually being used.
Customer support email
This is the reply address on emails your customers receive from your store through Tacey — if a customer hits reply, this is where their reply lands.
You have two choices, shown as a pair of options:
Choice | What happens |
Send to your store's contact email | Uses the customer email address already on file in your Shopify store details. This is the default. |
Send to a different mailbox | Type any email address. Tacey checks it looks like a real address before letting you save. |
If your Shopify store has no customer email set, the first option is greyed out with a note explaining why — you'll need to either add one in your Shopify store details, or pick a mailbox here directly.
Store notification email
This is where Tacey sends you a short internal note when something happens on an order — right now, that's when a customer changes their order's contact details through the "Update contact details" tool, and when two orders get merged.
Same two choices as above: your store's own account email (the default), or a mailbox you type in.
Email the old address when the email changes
If a customer changes the email address on their order, Tacey can send a short notice — from your store — to the old email address, so a change nobody expected is never silent. This wording is fixed and can't be edited, because it protects your customers from an account takeover attempt. Replies to that notice go to your Customer support email above.
Whether this notice sends at all is a separate on/off switch, kept on the "Update contact details" tool's own settings page — this section only shows you what it says and where replies go.
Notify me when a customer changes their contact details
A short internal note sent to your Store notification email above, any time a shopper uses the contact-update tool. Same as above: the on/off switch for this lives on the "Update contact details" tool's own settings page, not here.
What this does NOT do
It does not change where "Contact support" messages go. The Contact support tool has its own destination mailbox, set on that tool's own settings page — it is a separate setting from the Customer support email above, even though the two sound alike.
It does not send a test email. There's no "send a test" button today — the fastest way to confirm a change took effect is to trigger the real notice (for example, have a customer use the contact-update tool) and check where it lands.
It does not retroactively change emails already sent. Only sends made after you save the change use the new routing.
It does not affect your regular Shopify order-confirmation or shipping emails. Those still come from Shopify directly, the same as before you installed Tacey.
Frequently asked
I changed my Customer support email. Why is a customer's reply still landing in my old inbox?
Only emails sent after you saved the change use the new address. Anything sent before the change still has the old reply address.
Can I use the same mailbox for both Customer support email and Store notification email?
Yes — they're independent settings, and there's no rule against pointing both at the same address.
Does turning on "Email the old address when the email changes" cost anything?
No, it's included on every plan, same as the rest of this page.
