What do the numbers and badges on the Tacey Dashboard mean?

Every number, card and badge on the Tacey Dashboard, in plain words: the eight metrics, the Needs your action list, tools that need setup, plan and usage, recent activity and the notification bell.

Written by Joseph Odera

The Dashboard is the first page you see when you open Tacey. It shows how your address checks and your customers' edits are going, and lists anything waiting on you. Hover the small i next to a metric to see its definition. This article puts every number and badge in one place.

The date button near the top, Last 30 days by default, sets the period for the eight metrics. The Needs your action list ignores it and always shows what is open now, from any date.

The eight metrics

Metric

What it counts

Addresses verified

Orders whose address Tacey checked and confirmed. Orders it skipped, or could not check, are not counted. The small line chart is addresses checked per day.

Corrections made

Addresses a customer or you changed after checkout. Each one is a row on the Order changes page.

Undeliverable caught

Addresses confirmed bad before the parcel shipped. Each one is a delivery that would have failed, so a higher number is better.

Clean rate

The share of checked addresses that came back usable.

Added after checkout

Money collected and confirmed after checkout through your Tacey tools. A collection that was started but has not settled is not counted.

Refunded after checkout

Money returned to customers after checkout and confirmed by Shopify.

Fixed by the shopper

The share of edits the customer made themselves, without you touching the order.

Edits this window

Every change made to an order through Tacey in the period.

Amounts in other currencies use Shopify's rate for that order. A line such as "3 in other currencies. They are being added now and usually appear within 15 minutes" means the total will rise shortly. A line saying some rows "could not be read" means the number shown is lower than the real figure. If a number cannot be read at all, the card says so and your orders are unaffected: reload in a moment.

Needs your action

This is the list of orders waiting on you for money, from any date. View orders opens them on the Orders page. Each row has a count and a View button.

Row

What it means

What to do

Refunds that failed

Tacey tried to send these refunds and Shopify refused or did not answer.

Open each order in Shopify and check its refunds first. Refund by hand only if nothing was sent.

Refunds waiting for your approval

A refund is held until you approve it.

Open the order and press Approve refund. See How do I approve a refund a customer is waiting for?.

Refunds to issue

A customer is owed money back and no approval is waiting.

Issue each refund from its order in Shopify.

Balances not collected

A customer owes money for an edit and nothing has collected it yet.

Collect it in Shopify or contact the customer.

Other rows appear only when they apply: Cancellation refunds not confirmed (Tacey cancelled an order and could not tell which refund was the cancellation's: open the order in Shopify, check the refund, then mark it handled), Changes not confirmed with Shopify (Shopify did not confirm a change or did not answer: check the order in Shopify), Orders you could merge (the same customer ordered again before shipping: review each pair) and Disputes waiting for your response (open the order to see the dispute; you answer the bank in Shopify and Tacey never does). Tacey shows disputes that Shopify Payments reports. Disputes on other payment providers are handled in that provider. When nothing applies, the list reads Nothing needs your action.

Tools that need setup

A tool you turned on but did not finish setting up shows here with a red Needs setup badge. It shows nothing to customers until you finish, which is the point of the list. Finish setup opens the tool. A tool that is switched off never appears here.

Plan and usage

Your plan name, a progress bar and the count, for example "152 of 20,000 orders", with the date it resets. The bar shows one of three states:

Badge

What it means

On track

You are comfortably inside your plan.

Near limit

You have used 80 percent or more of your orders for this period.

At limit

You have used all of them.

Your allowance runs in 30-day periods that start on your billing date, not on the 1st of the month. Every plan includes every feature. Only the number of orders changes. Manage plan opens Billing.

Recent activity

Latest orders lists the most recent orders with the same Address check pills as the Orders page. They are explained in What do the pills and numbers on the Orders page mean?. The Dashboard shows the pill only. The short reason under Check address appears on the Orders page and in the order's window.

Latest edits lists the most recent changes: when, which order, what changed, who asked (The customer, You or Tacey) and a View button. When a change did not happen, an outcome badge says why: Stopped before reaching Shopify (Tacey's own check refused it), Shopify refused this change, Change not made or Not confirmed. Nothing about the order changed in the first three cases. Open order changes shows every change. See What do the columns on the Order changes page mean?.

Quick actions

A column of shortcuts, each with a live number: Orders (orders checked), Review addresses (addresses waiting for a check), Refunds to approve (held for your approval), Order Merge (merges completed), Editing tools (how many are on), Merge rules (active and in draft), Order changes (changes recorded), Analytics, Billing (orders used this period) and Settings.

The notification bell

The bell near the top shows a number when there are unread notifications. A notification tells you something needs you, for example a refund waiting for your approval. It says the amount was the one when the order was edited, and that the order shows what Approve will send. Open it to go straight to the order.

What this does not do

  • A number is never an instruction to act. Only the Needs your action list asks you to do something.

  • The metrics are not live to the second. They count what Tacey has recorded and confirmed, so a collection that has not settled yet is not in Added after checkout.

  • The Dashboard does not change anything. It only shows and links.
