The Orders page lists every order Tacey has checked. Each row carries an Address check pill, an Address type pill and, when money is waiting, a Money pill. This article explains each one, what to do about it, and what the four numbers at the top of the page count. To see what is behind a pill, click View on the row. The window that opens is explained in What does the order details window show?.
The four numbers at the top
Number | What it counts |
Orders checked | Orders Tacey checked in the period you chose (the last 30 days by default). |
Addresses to check | Orders in that period whose address could not be fully confirmed, so they are worth a look. |
Fixed by customers | Orders where the customer corrected or confirmed their own address after Tacey asked. |
Needs your action | Orders waiting on you for money, from any date: a refund that failed, a refund to approve or issue, a cancellation refund Tacey could not match, or a balance nobody has collected. It does not depend on the date range. |
The Address check pill
Pill | What it means | What to do |
Verified | Tacey confirmed the address can be delivered to. | Nothing. |
Check address | Something is wrong or could not be confirmed. A short reason sits under the pill. | Open the order with View, read the reason, and ask the customer or fix the address in Shopify. |
Needs a unit | The address is a real building with several units and no apartment or suite number was given. | Ask the customer for the unit number. |
Undeliverable | Postal records say there is no place to deliver to at this address. | Contact the customer before you ship. |
Located, not verified | Tacey found the street or area, but address records for this country cannot confirm the building number. This is not a problem with the address. | Nothing to fix. |
Could not check | Tacey did not check this order, for example because its country is outside your regions or the check could not run. The order was never held up. | Nothing, unless you want to check the address yourself. |
Checking | The check has not finished yet. | Wait a moment and reload. |
A customer who sees a warning and chooses to keep the address they typed gets a quiet line under the pill, Customer kept it after a warning. Their choice is recorded and the order is not held.
The reason under "Check address"
The line under a Check address pill says which part could not be confirmed, so you do not have to open the order to know what to look at.
Reason | What it means |
Postal code differs | The check found a different postal code from the one the customer typed. |
Postal code not confirmed | The check could not confirm the postal code. |
Street number not found | The street exists but the building number was not found on it. |
Street not confirmed | The street name could not be confirmed. |
City differs / City not confirmed | The address was found in a different city than the one typed, or the city could not be confirmed. |
State or region differs / State or region not confirmed | The same for the state, province or region. |
Unit number missing / Unit not confirmed | The building has several units and the unit number is missing or could not be confirmed. |
Postal records do not confirm delivery | The postal service's own records do not confirm that mail is delivered to this address. |
Spelling corrected | The check corrected a spelling in the address. |
A name followed by "added" or "changed" | The check added or changed that part of the address, for example the neighbourhood. |
Could not be confirmed | The check could not confirm the address and has nothing more specific to say. Open the order to see what it found. |
The reason never shows the customer's address. Open the order with View to see what the customer typed and what the check found.
An address that was only filled in is Verified
If every part of an address is confirmed and the only difference is a neighbourhood name the check filled in, for example "Auckland CBD" added to a street address, the order reads Verified. A neighbourhood is a label the carrier does not deliver by, so Tacey does not ask you to act on it. The order window still lists the neighbourhood as Filled in by the check so nothing is hidden. A changed postal code, or a filled-in city, street or number, still reads Check address.
The Address type pill
Residential, Business or PO box, as the address check recorded it. A dash means the check did not record a type.
The Money pill
A Money pill appears only when money is waiting on you. If several apply, the most urgent one shows. A dash means nothing is waiting.
Pill | What it means | What to do |
Refund failed | A refund Tacey tried to send did not go through. | Check the order's refunds in Shopify, then refund by hand if nothing was sent. |
Refund to approve | A refund is waiting for your approval. | Open the order and press Approve refund. See How do I approve a refund a customer is waiting for?. |
Refund to issue | A customer is owed money and no approval is waiting. | Issue the refund from the order in Shopify. |
Refund not confirmed | Tacey cancelled the order and could not confirm which refund was the cancellation's. | Check the order's refunds in Shopify, then mark it handled. |
Balance owed | A customer owes money for an edit and nothing has collected it yet. | Collect the balance in Shopify or contact the customer. |
Not confirmed | An edit went through and Shopify did not confirm the money side. | Check the order in Shopify. |
A line under the pill such as Order cancelled, refund of X means the order was cancelled and a refund is held for your approval.
Filters
Address check filters by the pills above. Each option explains itself when you open the list.
Money has one option, Needs your action, which shows orders where a refund failed, a refund is owed to a customer, a cancellation refund could not be confirmed, or a balance has not been collected.
Date and the sort arrows change the period and the order.
What this does not do
A pill never blocks an order. Tacey does not stop checkout or hold an order because of an address result. If the check cannot run, the order goes through and reads Could not check.
It does not change the address. To change an address you edit the order in Shopify or the customer corrects it themselves.
It does not predict delivery. Verified means the address matched postal records, not that a parcel will arrive.
